Job Purpose

Job Purpose

 

The Finance Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the organization’s finance systems landscape, including legacy platforms such as Microsoft Great Plains, Concur, and Microsoft Navision, as well as the Group’s strategic finance system, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).

 

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all finance systems operate effectively, financial data remains accurate and reliable, and Finance users receive timely, highquality support. The role provides helpdesk support, responding to incidents and service requests promptly and professionally to minimise disruption to business operations.

 

Acting as a key link between Finance, IT, and external vendors, the Finance Systems Analyst delivers functional support, enhances financial processes, ensures robust system controls, and contributes to the organization’s transition from legacy systems to D365 F&O.

Job Overview

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Systems Support & Maintenance

  • Support and maintain all finance systems, including Microsoft Great Plains, Concur, Microsoft Navision, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).
  • Provide first‑line and second‑line helpdesk support, ensuring all incidents and service requests are logged, prioritised, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Create new user accounts across finance applications and maintain user lifecycle tasks (new starters, movers, leavers).
  • Amend and review user security access and permissions, ensuring compliance with financial controls.
  • Monitor integrations, data flows, and system health to ensure ongoing stability and data integrity.

 

User Support, Training & Documentation

  • Provide functional support to Finance and operational users, answering questions related to system processes and resolving usage issues.
  • Deliver user training and guidance on finance processes and system functionality to ensure effective system adoption.
  • Write and maintain high‑quality user training notes, manuals, and process documentation.
  • Attend relevant workshops, system demonstrations, and training sessions to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge.
  • Assist the wider Finance Systems team with general administrative tasks related to system configuration, documentation, and support.

 

Incident Management & Service Delivery

  • Respond to support desk tickets quickly and professionally, ensuring consistent communication with end users.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior team members or external vendors where appropriate.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and contribute to implementing long‑term solutions to recurring problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and system changes.

 

Change, Enhancements & Projects

  • Assist with system upgrades, patches, enhancements, and testing activities across all finance systems.
  • Support ongoing finance transformation initiatives, particularly the transition from legacy systems into D365 F&O.
  • Participate in system configuration, data migration, workflow updates, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

 

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvements, contributing actively to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure financial controls, approval workflows, and segregation-of-duties principles are correctly implemented and maintained.
  • Document system configurations, updates, and functional procedures to maintain strong governance and audit readiness.

 

Reporting & Data Quality

  • Support reporting activities, including assisting with data extraction, validation, and troubleshooting financial data issues.
  • Ensure consistent data standards and accuracy across both legacy systems and D365 F&O.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams to resolve data discrepancies and improve reliability of system-generated reports

 

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • 5+ years’ experience working with Finance System applications in a support, systems, or analyst capacity.
  • Strong experience working in a finance environment, with a solid understanding of finance functions and end‑to‑end processes (e.g., AP, AR, GL, Procurement).
  • 2+ years’ experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), including navigation, financial modules, workflows, and security roles.
  • MS Office skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation).
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases (minimum 2+ years) for data extraction, troubleshooting, or basic queries.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting users, resolving incidents, and managing helpdesk/service requests.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, including Finance, IT, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Clear and confident communicator—able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.
  • High attention to detail with a thorough and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Delivery‑focused, with a proactive mindset and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks based on urgency and importance, maintaining service quality under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, explore new ideas, and adopt new technologies.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to or experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
  • Experience using or supporting SAP Concur (expenses, invoice management).
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision (NAV) or other legacy ERP systems.
  • Experience participating in system upgrades, enhancements, UAT, or finance transformation projects.
