We are looking for skilled linguists or administrative candidates for translations and/or administration of translations from English to Norwegian. This is a 100% fixed-term (4 months) position with workplace either at home, in our office in Vika in Oslo or as a hybrid solution where you work some days from home and some days from the office. Applicants must be based in Norway. It would be beneficial if you can attend some of the training in our office in Oslo upon start-up (1–2 weeks), but this is not a requirement. The ideal start date for us would be early May but start and end dates are negotiable.

About the position

We mainly translate between English and Norwegian within a variety of verticals, e.g. life science, finance, IT, consumer electronics, automotive and entertainment. Your work tasks would consist of translation of texts, post-editing of machine translated text as well as review of texts translated by other linguists. You could be asked to perform administration for projects and be responsible for delivery in accordance with given instructions and due times. You will also be expected to support the internal team by helping them perform their daily tasks.

You need to have very good English skills, native level Norwegian skills and a keen eye for details. Our preferred candidates work well in teams, are open to giving and receiving feedback and views challenges and setbacks as learning opportunities. The perfect candidate would be a problem solver, open to change and able to adapt to new work processes and tools. The ability to remain calm and stay focused under pressure is also a big pro, since we are constantly working to deliver within tight deadlines. You should expect a dynamic workday where flexibility and the ability to make room for new and more urgent tasks are essential. Since we work digitally, we expect all applicants to have general computer knowledge and – if you work from home – access to high-speed Internet. The company provides necessary IT equipment (laptop, keyboard, screen etc.), unless you’d prefer to work on your own setup. We use an online desktop / VDI that can be run on all modern computers.

Some translation experience or training is a big advantage for the position. Candidates that seem suitable will be asked to perform a test translation. It is also an advantage to have linguistic education or knowledge on a university level or similar, but we encourage anyone with some translation or admin experience to apply.

Work tasks

· Translation, post-editing and quality control of translations from English to Norwegian.

· Admin tasks like project set-up and delivery, and email communication.

Qualifications

· Very good language skills.

· Relevant linguistic or administrative education, experience or knowledge, but candidates with experience in other fields might also be considered for the test translation stage.

· Basic computer skills.

Education level

· University level, but other experience can compensate for lack of formal education.

Personal traits

· Problem solver.

· Works well with others and alone.

· Team player.

· Open to feedback.

· Seeks opportunities for growth and improvement.

· Able to keep calm and focus during a busy workday.

We offer

· An inclusive workplace.

· An exciting and varied workday.

· A foot in the door in the industry.
