Job Purpose

This role will help scale the growth of our TrainAI offering - an advanced data services platform that delivers high-quality training data for machine learning and AI systems. Working with some of the world’s biggest technology companies, TrainAI combines human-in-the-loop workflows with proprietary tools and AI-assisted processes to support the development of accurate and scalable AI-training solutions. 

 

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the technical direction and architecture of our next-generation internal TrainAI platform. This is a strategic, senior individual contributor role focused on building scalable, reliable systems that: 

  • Onboard vendors faster, 
  • Provide visibility across the vendor lifecycle, 
  • Measure quality and performance, and 
  • Improve utilisation and operational efficiency.

 

You will partner closely with Product, Data, and Train AI operations to simplify complex workflows, build unified data foundations, and help shape the core systems underpinning TrainAI’s growth.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

 

Architecture & Technical Leadership 

  • Define the technical architecture for TrainAI’s internal systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and impact. 
  • Set engineering standards and guide teams through sound design decisions. 
  • Lead the design of core platform components (workflows, data models, integrations). 

Vendor Platform Development 

  • Build systems that reduce vendor activation time and streamline onboarding. 
  • Support development of quality measurement and vendor performance insights. 
  • Create simple, unified workflows and tools that improve operational efficiency. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with Product to translate business goals into technical plans. 
  • Partner with TrainAI delivery teams to understand workflows and ensure the platform supports real-world needs. 
  • Mentor engineers and elevate technical excellence across the TrainAI engineering organisation. 

Execution & Delivery 

  • Lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in system reliability, data quality, and ease of use.

Skills & Experience

 

  • 8+ years software engineering experience with strong system design and architecture skills. 
  • Experience building internal platforms, workflow systems, or large-scale operational tools. 
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, APIs, and distributed systems. 
  • Excellent communicator who thrives in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces. 
  • Able to influence direction, mentor others, and take ownership of major technical outcomes. 
  • Previous experience with .NET and cloud (GCP/Azure) skills is an advantage
