BI & Data Product Analyst

Are you a data enthusiast with a passion for analytics? We are seeking a BI & Data Product Analyst to join our Data and Analytics team at RWS. This role combines advanced technical skills in SQL and ETL with analytical thinking and financial business acumen. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing data transformations and pipelines to support complex business requirements, particularly in financial data systems. This is a hands-on technical role with a significant focus on problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and creating solutions for intricate business processes.

This position is ideal for someone with a quantitative background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field, who thrives on developing innovative solutions, optimizing data workflows, and ensuring data accuracy. We are looking for a candidate who has strong communication skills, experience in project and stakeholder management, is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possesses exceptional technical skills, alongside a strong sense of ownership and accountability. The primary focus of this role will be financial data projects within a collaborative and dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• SQL Development:
  • Write advanced T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to handle complex data transformations, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Perform query performance optimization, including indexing strategies and tuning for large datasets.
• Data Engineering:
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like SSIS, ADF, or equivalent, ensuring seamless data integration and transformation.
  • Build and automate data workflows to support accurate and efficient data operations.
• Business and Financial Data Solutions:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand financial business processes and requirements.
  • Develop tailored data solutions to address challenges such as cost allocation, weighted distributions, and revenue recognition using mathematical and logical reasoning.
• Problem-Solving and Analysis:
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to transform business logic into actionable data workflows.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for data issues, resolving them swiftly to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Collaboration and Governance:
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions align with business objectives.
  • Document data workflows, pipelines, and processes to support ongoing maintenance and scalability.

Required Skills and Experiences

• Technical Expertise:
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server, including tools like SSMS, SQL Profiler, and SQL Agent.
  • Proven experience developing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines.
  • Proficiency with SSIS for data integration and transformation.
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking:
  • Strong critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills to design efficient solutions for business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex financial data challenges, including proportional distributions and other mathematical transformations.
• Business Acumen:
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts and processes, enabling seamless translation of business needs into data solutions.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, translating requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
• Additional Skills:
  • Familiarity with Python, C#, or similar scripting languages for backend integration.
  • Experience with cloud ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF), Fivetran, or Airbyte.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance principles.
