Job Purpose

The purpose of this job description is to identify and recruit a highly skilled and experienced individual to fulfill the role of a Cloud/DevOps Engineer within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse set of technical competencies and expertise necessary to maintain, secure, and optimize our IT infrastructure and cloud-based services.

At RWS our Technical Support and Cloud Operations Teams are a global organization spanning across 13 countries serving a global customer base. Technical Support deliver highly valued support and build trusted relationships with our customers, from individual freelancers to large international corporations and governments.  
 
We are constantly investigating and solving technical problems across a wide range of products and technology, with emphasis on prevention and root cause analysis. At the same time, knowledge sharing is crucial, providing our users and colleagues with the latest solutions, answers, and information. From a Cloud Operations perspective we are a team of experienced, high-performance individuals focused on serving our Enterprise customers leveraging our SaaS solutions to power their “Seamless Customer Experience”. Our core focus is on Quality of Service, Customer Experience, Security and Compliance. Both technical and non-technical groups are embedded within the same Cloud Operations unit. 

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Support key implementations based on RWS’s services, with particular focus on Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Services) and related products
  •  Manage application infrastructures in geographically dispersed data centers
  •  Work closely with science, development and product teams throughout the dev lifecycle and deployment process, to ensure high-quality releases and successful outcomes
  •  Application deployments, monitoring, and overall service availability
  •  Provide input on scalability, capacity planning and high availability concerns
  •  Take ownership of and provide real time response/resolution to escalated customer support inquiries or escalated infrastructure alerts
  •  Troubleshoot issues in a methodical, consistent, and efficient manner
  •  Maintain high quality service desk entries including prompt, accurate and detailed notes
  •  Monitor service availability (including the underlying infrastructure) and react to alerts prior to them becoming critical
  •  Automate tasks using config management and scripting languages for scalability, repeatability, and increased efficiency
  •  Ensure server/process documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and appropriate
  •  Document and share knowledge within the team and help train other team members
  •  Communicate effectively with Development and Support teams, escalating issues appropriately
  •  Contribute to departmental roadmap with technology or process initiatives to provide continuous improvement
  •  Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Internet technologies and developments
  •  Participate in after-hours on-call support/monitoring rotation and occasional after-hours scheduled work
  •  Represent Cloud Operations in meetings and workshops with the client where relevant to their implementation and service
  • Take clear ownership as the primary cloud engineer for building and improving the service
  •  Provide constructive input into future changes to the implementation and service

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate for this role will have 6+ years of technical experience in a client-facing services environment in delivering complex client projects.

 

Essential

  •  In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux administration
  •  Good knowledge of OS Administration – Windows, Amazon Linux, Red Hat
  •  Good knowledge of networking principles (Active Directory, DNS, firewall, load balancers, etc.)
  •  CI/CD tools – Jenkins, Nexus, Spinnaker
  •  Configuration and deployment automation – Ansible, python, Terraform, CloudFormation
  •  Version control systems – Git
  •  In-depth knowledge of AWS EKS is necessary
  • Configuration and administration of database services –PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  •  Monitoring tools – Zabbix, StatusCake, Dynatrace, Prometheus,Cloud watch
  •  Logging tool - Graylog
  • Scripting Languages – PowerShell, Python
  •  Cloud Knowledge – AWS
  • Good knowledge of general Information Security and Privacy Policies in an IaaS, PaaS environment and ISMS processes
  • Strong people skills and the natural ability to communicate effectively internally and externally. Develop relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel in a confident and friendly manner
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • An initiative-taker able to work independently and be resourceful in terms of finishing tasks and responsibilities

 

Desirable

  •  Experience with automated infrastructure deployment and related technologies (python, PowerShell, CloudFormation, Terraform)
  •  Experience in training and writing process documentation.
  •  ITIL V4 Foundation

  • Must have a valid passport and the ability to travel internationall
